Resumen / Descripción: This video will present the case study of the costume books, widely spread during the sixteenth century. They built and disseminated kowledge about the inhabitants of different parts of the world. These books were windows to different corners of the world. We would see some examples of books presenting dresses of the Ottoman Empire and the moorish dresses (vestidos a la morisca) of the Iberian Peninsula. What defines each type of dress? And how were these dresses known at the European court? Este video presentará el caso específico de los libros de trajes, que se difundieron durante el siglo XVI. Estos libros construyeron y diseminaron conocimiento sobre los habitantes de las diferentes partes del mundo conocido. Fueron escaparates hacia las distintas partes de la geografía. Veremos el caso de las representaciones de trajes del imperio otomano, así como los vestidos "a la morisca" en la península ibérica. ¿Qué era lo que definía cada tipo de traje? ¿Y cómo fueron percibidos en las distintas cortes europeas?.
